Umno Youth has shot back at an MCA leader for likening the protest at DAP headquarters to the terrorist group Islamic State (IS).
"Likening the actions of Umno Youth handing a memorandum to the DAP headquarters to the IS shows shallow thinking.
"MCA religious harmony bureau chief Ti Lian Ker should first investigate why the memorandum was sent," said Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii in a statement today.
He argued the protest was a response to DAP's "provocation".
"The responsibility to maintain peace isn't just that of one party; if there is no provocation from DAP, then the protest would not have taken place.
"Religious provocation should be restrained by all parties, regardless of what religion (they are practising), whether Buddhist or Christian; it is the responsibility of all," said Mohd Razlan.
Ti in a statement yesterday urged action against Umno Youth members who protested against Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming on Tuesday over alleged posts on the DAP leader's Facebook deemed insulting to Islam.
“Nobody is above the law and the red shirts should not be allowed to run wild and disregard law and order.
"We must uphold the rule of law and maintain public order.
"They are no better than IS and should be treated in the same manner. There should be zero tolerance and the authorities must not be seen to be otherwise," said Ti. - Mkini
