KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government has declared this Sunday (Aug 13) as an occasional holiday in conjunction with the state election tomorrow.
Caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said this was to provide convenience and comfort to the people and the Election Commission (EC) workers.
"The state government has agreed to declare Aug 13 as an occasional holiday for Kelantan in conjunction with the state election.
"This also to facilitate the state government employees who work late to assist the EC on polling day," he said in a statement here tonight.
Ahmad, who is the Pasir Pekan candidate for Pas, is expected to cast his vote at SMK Kampung Laut tomorrow morning.
Kelantan is among six states that would be involved in the elections tomorrow.A total of 1.4 million people in Kelantan are eligible to cast their votes.
A total of 45 state seats would be contested in tomorrow's election in Kelantan.
In the 14th General Election, Pas won 37 of the seats, seven won by Barisan Nasional and one by Bersatu. - NST
