LATEST : UNDI AWAL STARTED TODAY, TURNOUT MORE THAN 90%

 Today 8th August 2023 was Undi Awal in the SIX States for some categories of people (Civil Servants, people who will be busy on election day etc).  Undi Awal for the SIX States and the Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary By Election. Here is Utusan Malaysia:

 

PUTRAJAYA : Kesemua enam negeri mencatatkan peratusan keluar mengundi awal pada Pilihan Raya Negeri (PRN) hari ini melebihi 90 peratus dengan Terengganu dan Kedah merekodkan tertinggi sebanyak 93 peratus setakat pukul 3 petang tadi.

Menurut Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR), peratusan undi awal di Negeri Sembilan dan Selangor masing-masing mencatatkan 91 peratus, manakala Kelantan dan Pulau Pinang sebanyak 90 peratus.

 

My Comments : Ok I also just received the following.

 

So in all six States as well as the Parliamentary By Election for Kuala Terengganu the voter turnout was above 90%.  Highest was 93% in Kedah and Terengganu. Pulau Pinang was 90% while Selangor was 91%.

It was suggested that the bulk of the turnout was Malay voters including in Penang and Selangor but in Penang and Selangor you can rarely have 90% turnout of Malays alone. The population is mixed.

Whatever the turnout it is not exactly good news for Pakatan Harapan but gives better hope for Perikatan Nasional.

It is possible that even Chinese voters may be turning out in favour of PN or  parties other than PH. Anything but PH. 

Previously we had high voter turnouts in the 2013,  2018 and 2022 General Elections when there was a high level of dissatisfaction against the government. 

Meaning high voter turnout can be correlated to high dissatisfaction.

Four more days to go. Please get up and vote them out. Change the diapers.
