STATE POLLS | Kelantan PAS has asserted that certain proposals outlined in Pakatan Harapan-BN’s state election manifesto are not new.
Its deputy commissioner Mohd Amar Abdullah said the tax reduction offer had already been implemented by the state government.
"We’ve given discounts (also presented by Harapan-BN) to people such as land tax arrears with a discount of up to 50 percent.
"There is also the assessment tax which we have dealt with so it is not something new within their manifesto," he said during a press conference in Kota Bharu today.
Earlier, Malaysiakini reported that Harapan and BN proposed incentives such as reduced land fees, arrears discounts, and assessment tax reductions as part of their manifesto for Kelantan should they win in the state polls.
No water solutions
Amar pointed out that the Harapan-BN manifesto also omitted strategies to address the water issue in Kelantan.
"Harapan and BN always mention the biggest problem in Kelantan is the water supply. In the manifesto, they did not mention the water problem nor any plans to solve it.
"That should have been a priority in their manifesto. Then we can see what was their purpose in attacking and criticising the (state) government on the water issue," he added.
The Panchor candidate for PN said PAS has never denied the existence of water problems in the state.
"We have never denied that there is a water problem, whether inside or outside of the (state legislative) council. I do admit that there is a water problem, but the picture given by our opposition is extreme.
“It's as if one state has no water, one state has murky water. We have a problem with the federal government’s help and (while) we admit that there is a contribution (from Putrajaya), it is not enough.
“For example, we needed RM2 billion, but they gave us RM100 million to RM200 million. How can we solve the problem (with that amount)?" he questioned. - Mkini
