CHUKAI: A total of three voters will cast their ballots during early voting for the Kemaman parliamentary by-election today.

The three – the spouses of military personnel – will cast their ballots at the Kijal police station here, which will be open from 8am until noon.

All 387 police personnel and the six armed forces personnel eligible for early voting have cast their votes by post.

Terengganu police chief Mazli Mazlan said the instruction was issued to all personnel involved to switch from early voting to voting by post to ensure a focus on rescue work during the flood season.

The meteorological department has forecast rain from morning until evening.

The Kemaman by-election sees a direct fight between Barisan Nasional candidate, former chief of defence forces Raja Affandi Raja Noor, and Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar of PAS.

The Election Commission has set Dec 2 as polling day for the by-election, which is being held following the decision of the Terengganu election court on Sept 26 to nullify the victory of PAS candidate Che Alias Hamid in the 15th general election. - FMT
