Prasarana to submit report after power outage at Putrajaya MRT line

The Putrajaya MRT line has been fully operational since March this year.

PUTRAJAYA: The transport ministry has asked Prasarana Malaysia Bhd to submit a full report after a power outage at the Putrajaya MRT line yesterday.

Its minister Loke Siew Fook said the ministry was disappointed with the incident as the MRT line had only been fully operational for less than a year.

“We are deeply disappointed as the Putrajaya line has only been open for less than a year, so MRT Corp and Prasarana must look into this technical issue seriously.

“We have asked Prasarana to provide a full report to be presented in a post-Cabinet (meeting) later,” he told reporters at the ministry’s headquarters here.

Phase one of the Putrajaya MRT line began in June last year. The line became fully operational in March.

Yesterday, Rapid KL said in a statement that the Putrajaya MRT line had experienced a power outage between the Conlay and Chan Sow Lin stations at around 5.50pm.

It apologised for the inconvenience caused to commuters.

Loke said the ministry would also refer the incident to the train’s contractor, MMC Gamuda, to identify the cause of the problem as the train was still within the defect liability period. - FMT
