PETALING JAYA: The police have completed an investigation into a burglary case in Air Itam, Penang involving seven policemen from a district police headquarters (IPD) in Selangor.

Timur Laut acting police chief V Saravanan said the investigation paper has been referred to the state police headquarters, Bernama reported.

“The state police headquarters will then refer the paper to the prosecution and legal division at Bukit Aman.

“The case is being submitted to Bukit Aman first as it involves policemen, before it is referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instruction,” he was quoted as saying at a press conference.

Last week, it was reported that seven policemen, including six rank-and-file officers, were probed under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.

The probe was launched after a 40-year-old plumber lodged a police report about electronic items and other things worth about RM10,000 that were missing from his house.

He was earlier detained by police from Oct 27 until Nov 3 on suspicion of being involved in a burglary in Selayang, Selangor.

He lodged the report after suspecting that the items were stolen during the police raid. - FMT
