Move ‘frogs’ outside Parliament - Umno Youth to speaker

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has criticised the actions of three rogue Bersatu MPs who switched seats in the Dewan Rakyat, today.

He questioned the reason for it and said that he considered their switching support but staying in the same party to be tantamount to party-hopping.

“What is the main reason for changing seats? Sit in the same place and support the government from there.

“Before and after the Anti-Party-Hopping Act was established, Parliament still has political frogs.

“I ask the speaker to put these people outside the Dewan Rakyat, I think it’s better,” he said sarcastically.

Today in the Dewan Rakyat, three of the four Bersatu MPs who recently switched to supporting Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had their seats transferred within the Dewan Rakyat.

They are now sitting behind Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. Muda previously withdrew support for the government in September.

“Three Bersatu MPs were transferred behind Muar,” said Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan in a note on X, formerly known as Twitter. He also attached a photo of the nameplates of the members of Parliament from Labuan, Jeli, and Gua Musang.

Allocation issues

Akmal said he believes he is consistent in considering the four rogue PN parliamentarians to be the same as party-hoppers and that a lack of allocations is only used as an excuse.

“The issue is whether these people want to work or not because the allocation for development can still be applied for as usual.

“If there is a local issue, those who need development (allocations) can call the parties involved such as elected representatives, government agencies, or meet the minister to ask for help.

“What is missing is the allocation of parliamentarians and two MPs even changed their support from Kelantan (Jeli and Gua Musang), where the state government is under the administration of the opposition, so the reason that they did not get the allocation does not make sense,” he said when contacted by Malaysiakini.

He insisted that the rogue MPs switched their support due to personal interests instead of fighting for the people.

“Other opposition members are okay, why are they not okay? There is no issue of jumping the party when there is no provision, so there is no need to use excuses if the parliamentarians are not good at work,” he said again.

On Nov 9, Malaysiakini reported that four Bersatu members of Parliament who voiced support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had requested that their seats in the Dewan Rakyat be changed.

They are Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), and Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang). - Mkini
