A total of 17,300 mental health screenings have been recorded as of Nov 15, less than a month since the MyMinda module on the MySejahtera application was introduced on Oct 21, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said that of the total, 23 percent or 3,983 of those screened showed risks of depression, while 15 percent or 2,592 were found to have a risk for anxiety.
"Individuals with these risks have direct access through MyMinda to get counselling,” she said at the question and answer session.
She was replying to a supplementary question from Noraini Ahmad (Barisan Nasional-Parit Sulong) regarding the achievement of the MyMinda module since its implementation.
Replying to Noraini's original question about the operational status and achievement of the National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health (NCEMH), Zaliha (above) said the mental health crisis hotline or Heal Line 15555 had recorded 26,139 calls regarding mental health, thus far.
Zaliha also said the number comprised 16,942 callers who received emotional support assistance and 9,197 clients who received specific intervention from counsellors.
She added that 217 cases of suicidal behaviours were also recorded, with all those who attempted to commit suicide having received intervention counselling and taken to hospital.
