PETALING JAYA: Three police officers have been detained in connection with the theft of RM85,000 in cash from a shop in Lebuh Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid, in confirming the matter, said the three police officers, aged between 26 and 35, had been remanded for four days until Tuesday to assist in investigations.

He said a report on the theft was received at 12.36am on Friday.

The previous day, police were involved in a massive operation against undocumented migrants off Jalan Silang in the city centre. More than 1,100 foreigners were detained.

Allaudeen said the case was being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft, which carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years and a fine on conviction.

“Members of the public are urged to refrain from speculating about the case as it could disrupt the investigation or cause public anxiety,” Allaudeen said in a statement. - FMT
