PETALING JAYA: The King, Queen, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and several ministers have wished all Malaysian Christians a Merry Christmas.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, on Facebook, said they hoped this celebration will bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to all Christians in Malaysia.

Anwar, in his message, hoped the Christmas celebration would “create momentum” for all Malaysians to love and do good for one another, regardless of their backgrounds.

“The togetherness of the rakyat is needed so that the country can continue to grow its economy, with increased investments and an end to hardcore poverty.

“May this year’s Christmas celebration continue to bring happiness, peace, harmony, unity and prosperity to the country and all Malaysians,” he said in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof hoped that this festive season would act as a catalyst for strengthening racial unity and harmony.

“May the unity and well-being we cherish endure, ensuring a legacy for generations to come,” said Fadillah on Facebook.

Transport minister Loke Siew Fook also wished Malaysians a Merry Christmas, adding that it was a time for compassion and empathy.

“It is in this spirit that we have brought to fruition the FlySiswa initiative and the cap on flight prices between East and West Malaysia during festive seasons,” he said, referring to the RM599 cap on airfares for those travelling to East Malaysia from the peninsula during various festive seasons, starting this Christmas.

“Much work went into making these initiatives possible, but every additional minute they bring families together makes such efforts worthwhile,” said Loke.- FMT
