PETALING JAYA: Federal territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has given an assurance that the relocation of the Nagamma temple in Sentul will
resolved immediately and urged everyone to stay calm.
She urged members of the public to not politicise the relocation of the 103-year-old temple, which was partially demolished by a company on Monday.
Bernama reported that a discussion was held today with the company, headed by YTL Land & Development Berhad executive director Hamidah Bakar to seek a solution.
“The discussion today was positive and I am confident the issue can be resolved amicably soon.
“I will ensure the issue is resolved immediately. I urge everyone to stay calm and not turn it into a political issue to ensure peace and harmony among the people in the Federal Territory,” she said in her official Facebook posting today.
The meeting was also attended by deputy unity minister K Saraswathy, Batu MP P Prabakaran, representatives from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysia Hindu Sangam.
Earlier news reports said the private company, which owned the land, had been trying to get the temple removed since 2013 and there had been continuous dialogue over the matter since the end of last year. - FMT
