KALABAKAN: A human skeleton was found on the roadside near a plantation in Bukit Tukok here this morning.
It is understood that the skeleton, found lying on its back with burn marks, was discovered by residents passing through the area who notified police at about 9.30am.
However, there are no clues as to the identity of the victim, including the gender.
Tawau police chief Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin confirmed receiving a report about the discovery.
He said the case is still in the early stages of investigation and the remains have been sent to the hospital.
"So far, the case is classified as a sudden death report (SDR) pending the results of a post mortem," he said when contacted today.
He urged the public with any information or those who have a missing family member to come forward and lodge a report at the nearest police station to help the investigation.
