Donald Trump has swept the Republican Party presidential caucus in Iowa with 51% of the vote. More significantly he won in 98 out of 99 counties in Iowa. He lost one county by just one vote (to Nikki Haley). Mr Trump's 51% tally is more than the next two contenders combined. Here is a short video.
Mr Trump's victory speech was very conciliatory, calling for Republicans, Democrats, liberals, conservatives to unite. He says the death and destruction going on now in the world must come to an end. Mr Trump has said before that if he is re-elected he will stop the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. He will stop arming Ukraine.
Mr Trump notes that the homeless crisis is approaching epidemic proportions in American cities. Plus the almost daily occurrences of mass shootings and the illegal immigration that is getting out of control. America has huge problems.
Vivek Ramaswamy has fallen out of the presidential race after finishing fourth in Iowa. Mr Trump mentioned Vivek's attempt and said he had done well. The American establishment totally dislikes both Mr Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy also lost the black vote.
Iowa is the first State to hold its Republican caucus for this year's presidential elections to be held on Tuesday 5th November, 2024. So there is a long way to go. - FMT
