Online post on how to grow taller draws widespread attention, pertinent discussion

HEIGHT has always been attributed to many favourable things, social status, dominance, aesthetics and many more.

Therefore it is not surprising that people would go to great lengths to increase their height, either through surgery or some specialised exercise.

In a post on X that has since went viral, netizen FIR said the adequate amount of calories and protein intake is vital for people looking to have their child grow taller.

He helpfully posted a paper published by the Nutrition Society of Malaysia to support his claims.

The post that has since drawn over 3,400 reposts also garnered many other tips from fellow netizens.

According to Raid, he thought genetics plays a central role in the growth of a child.

FIR replied, saying that genetics is vital, however, the combination of nutrition should maximise one’s growth. One’s parents may be short not because of genetics, but also due to their diet.

FIR went on to add that it is not just quantity, but the quality of the protein which is an important factor.

He further attached two research papers which highlights the adequate consumption of essential amino acid (EAA) which plays a vital role in the growth of children.

Note that protein from animals has more EAA compared to plants.

Another netizen said children should have about 10 to 12 hours of sleep time, ideally before 9pm. AI claimed that 9 to 10pm is the optimum time for growth spurt hormone in children.

Looking through the comments, it can be seen that many netizens favoured eggs and milk as a choice diet to maximise one’s height gain.

Here we have it, a number of tips from netizens on how to grow taller, made even more credible by the experience they have shared as well as support from research papers and health journals.

As for me, I wish I knew about these tips when I was a child. But on the bright side, I get discounts when buying tickets (children category) for an event. Every cloud does have a silver lining. – Focus Malaysia
