Two Exco posts for MIC if BN wins, says Zahid

PORT DICKSON: Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has indicated that the Indian community will be given greater representation in the state administration if the coalition forms the state government and appoints a menteri besar from BN.

He urged the Indian community in Negri Sembilan to replicate the support given to MIC in the Johor election by ensuring both of the party's candidates win in the upcoming state polls.

"If the menteri besar is from BN, I want two exco members from the Indian community," he said at a meet-and-greet session with the Indian community here last night.

He said MIC's clean sweep in Johor proved that Indian support for the party was growing stronger, expressing confidence that the same momentum could be translated in Negri Sembilan.

"Now we are in Negri Sembilan and MIC is fielding two candidates.

"I am confident that in the spirit of BN, MIC representing BN will achieve a 100 per cent victory in Negeri Sembilan.

"This shows that Indian voters have shifted because while there may have been mistakes in 2018 and 2022, those mistakes were corrected in the Johor election and now in Negri Sembilan," he said.

However, Zahid said this outcome hinged on the victory of both contesting MIC candidates.

He added that the Indian community accounted for about 15.4 per cent of total voters in Negri Sembilan, among the highest in the country.

Also present were MIC president Tan Sri S.A, Vigneswaran, deputy president Datuk Seri M, Saravanan, and BN candidate for the Sri Tanjung state seat, A. Achutan. - NST
