RAUB: Several hours of heavy rain triggered flash floods in two areas in Raub today, including a main road.
The Raub District Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the floods were reported at 4.30pm in Kampung Melayu Sempalit and along Jalan Tras.
"Sungai Sempalit overflowed, inundating the nearby village, while the drainage system along Jalan Tras was unable to cope with the volume of water.
"No flood relief centres were opened. The floodwaters receded completely about 6.50pm after the rain stopped," it said in a statement.
The secretariat said Civil Defence Force personnel and police were deployed to both locations to assist residents and monitor water levels.
Earlier, images and videos of the floods were shared on social media, showing murky water inundating a stretch of Jalan Tras, which was passable only to large vehicles. - NST
