KUALA LUMPUR: A video showing floodwaters in front of a mall here has gone viral on Threads, garnering more than 79,500 views.
The clip, shared by Threads user @affnafeesa, shows murky brown water covering a road and grass verge beside a high-rise building.
Several users said flooding in the area was a frequent occurrence.
"When does this area ever not flood.... At this point I'm not surprised," wrote user @panacetam0l.
A second clip, apparently filmed from inside a vehicle, shows floodwater stretching across the roadside.
At the time of writing, the post had received about 1,700 likes, 68 comments, 98 reposts and 850 shares.
User @brosky90_ questioned whether the area had flooded again, noting that it had also been inundated during heavy rain several days earlier.
"Didn't it already flood during the heavy rain a few days ago? Is it flooding again?" the user wrote.
Another user, @z.aikha, said they would rather stay inside the mall during a downpour.
"That's why if it rains while we're inside that mall, we just wait until the rain stops," the user wrote.
The New Straits Times has reached out to the Shah Alam City Council for comment.
