School holidays in Malaysia are also the season for weddings.
But when a wedding involves the politically connected, the guest list will be more closely watched than the bride and groom.
Such is the case with Saiful Bukhari Azlan, the man who accused opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim of raping him in a trial which saw some of the most lurid details being splashed for public consumption on BN-run media.
Saiful recently tied the knot with a newsreader with UMNO-controlled broadcast station TV3, Nik Suryani Megat Deraman, and the wedding reception was held last night in Shah Alam.
His guests were the same people who had been busy churning out the sodomy allegations, even after the case was thrown out by the High Court citing weaknesses of evidences by the prosecution.
Other than the operator of UMNO's sexually-explicit blog 'Papagomo', and the defeated BN candidate for Shah Alam Zulkifli Noordin, there was also Nasharudin Mat Isa, the renegade former PAS deputy president who has publicly snubbed party leadership by lending support to right-wing UMNO offshoots.
The garden-themed wedding reception was attended by some 800 guests, who were treated to a jazz performance.
Several UMNO-linked websites carried pictures of these 'VIP' guests, which also included Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob and Kedah MB Mukhriz Mahathir.
