Restaurant operator shot in Nibong Tebal incident

A restaurant operator was seriously injured in a shooting incident in the Taman Merak Business Park in Nibong Tebal at 3.13pm today.
Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said the victim, in his 40s, was shot after he had stopped his car to go to a restaurant nearby to see a friend.
He said moments after the victim had stopped his car, two men on a Honda motorcycle approached and one of them fired at him.
Mazlan said the suspects then sped away in the direction of Jalan Perusahaan Bukit Minyak near here before abandoning the motorcycle by the roadside about five kilometres from the scene of the shooting because it broke down."Four shots were fired, one which hit him in the chest. The victim is the owner of the restaurant where a random shooting incident occurred and caused six people to be injured in Taman Kasawari, Simpang Ampat here on August 23," he told reporters at the scene.
"They are believed to have been fetched by their friends who came in a car. Police found two crash helmets, two shirts and a holster by the motorcycle," he said.
He said the victim was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital where his condition was reported to be stable. He added that the motorcycle bore false registration plates.
