DBKL and FT ministry are not on the same page in explaining the temple demolition.
KUALA LUMPUR: MIC Youth today took the Federal Territory ministry and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to task for false claims over a Hindu temple demolition at Jalan P Ramlee here on Sunday.
C Sivaraajh, the wing national secretary urged the minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and his special aid R Ramanan to be more careful when issuing statements on the demolition of the Sri Muniswarer Kaliyamman temple.
“Daily they make contradicting statements. First they said it will not be demolished. Then they admitted that part of the temple was demolished. Later both claimed that DBKL is merely repairing the road in front of the temple.”
In the latest development, Tengku Adnan said that the enforcement officers will only demolish a small portion of the canteen and an illegally erected restaurant within the temple vicinity. “So, who is telling the truth?” asked Sivaraajh during a press conference after meeting the temple committee.
“It is a temple. There is no restaurant inside or outside the temple,” he said.
“Being a minister, Tengku Adnan, and Ramanan who oversees the Indians’ issues in the Federal Territories ministry should be more accurate on this matter,” he added.
“Their false statements may tarnish the Federal Territories ministry and BN reputation in the public eye.”
On Sunday, DBKL demolished part of the 101 year old Hindu Temple; including the base of the statues of deities without prior notice or court order.
It was also reported that eleven people were arrested including MIC Youth chairman T Mohan, PKR’s leader S Jayathas and the temple care taker R Nalini during the incident.
Sivaraajh who is also a special officer to Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir said he believes that someone mislead Tengku Adnan on this matter.
“He never visited the temple before. Thus, could be possible that his special aid or DBKL officers may have given false information about the incident,” he said.
To strengthen his argument, he also exposed seven photos which were taken during the incident.
One of them clearly shows DBKL officers using sledge hammer to remove a statue, while another picture has officers moving around the temple in boots.
“No religion in this world will accept, if someone wears boots in a place of worship.
The DBKL officers were very arrogant and believe they are above the law,” said Sivaraajh.
He also insisted that action must be taken against the DBKL officers.
