In an unexpected move, former deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Maznah Mazlan handed a nomination form to contest the Wanita Umno chief post, 10 minutes before nominations for party polls closed at 5pm today.
Maznah, the assemblyperson for Muadzam Shah, is widely regarded an ally of current incumbent Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil.
Maznah's representative appeared at 4.50pm and submitted her forms, refusing to comment on the matter.
With her entry, Shahrizat's post will see a three-way fight.
Kulim Bandar Baru Wanita chief, lawyer Raihan Sulaiman Palestin, is the other candidate to contest the top Wanita post.
