Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said today lodged a police report about a fake Facebook account made in his name.
Ahmad's press secretary, Rosli Zakaria made □□the report at about 10.15am at the district police headquarters here.
According to Rosli, the information uploaded on the Facebook account was not true and had caused confusion among the people of the state.
"The police must investigate the matter and bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible. They have manipulated government information so as to mislead the people," he told reporters here today.
He said besides the police report he was also going to refer the matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action.
The fake account was created on Sunday (Sept 15) at 5.38pm and had announced additional holidays on Tuesday after the 50th Malaysia Day celebration on Monday, Rosli added.
He said any holiday announcement should be made by the State Secretary. Any instructions or announcements pertaining to the state administration would be made by the Menteri Besar himself and not through his Facebook or other social media sites.
"We have the original Facebook account of the Menteri Besar but the irresponsible characters behind the fake Facebook account created a page with a different URL and misused it," he said.
Such an irresponsible act can cripple the state government, he added.
