Sports commissioner suspends MNCF’s registration after unreasonable reply to show cause letter.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sports Commissioner has suspended the registration of the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF).
Sports Commissioner, Ahmad Shapawi Ismail in a press statement issued today said the decision was made after being satisfied that MNCF had failed to submit a reasonable reply to a show-cause letter dated August 21.
“The Sports Commissioner has found the reply given did not clearly answer the charges against it and no proper corrective actions were taken by MNCF on the audit report conducted by the Youth and Sports Ministry’s (KBS) Internal Audit Unit.
“The decision also took into consideration the proposal presented by the Sports Advisory Panel to suspend MNCF’s registration under Subsection 201(1) (e) of the Sports Development Act 1997 as the sports association was obstructing the development of the sport,” said Ahmad Shapawi in the statement.
In line with the suspension, MNCF is required to take remedial actions to correct the misconduct and irregularities in its administration one month from today.
MNCF was also ordered to hold a new annual general meeting as well as re-election of its Election Steering Committee, according to the conditions set by the ministry’s Internal Audit Committee.
“Failing this, the Sports Commissioner may cancel MNCF’s registration,” he said. – BERNAMA
