PETALING JAYA - PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today said that she is considering the idea to field the party’s latest member Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah back in Temerloh where he was the MP previously before losing to PAS.
Despite that, Dr Wan Azizah said PKR is still keeping its options open as Saifuddin can easily contest at any seats given his popularity and following.
“It’s in the cards [sic] somewhere but you have to have all the options kept open,” the Permatang Pauh MP and Kajang state assemblyman said after launching the “RM 26 for Change” donation drive for her party.
“We don’t want to have a three-cornered fight and things like that, so that we can win [against] BN,” she added.
Running for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general elections, Saifuddin lost the Temerloh parliamentary seat to Nasruddin Hassan from PKR political ally PAS.
Saifuddin had served one term as the Temerloh MP after beating PKR’s candidate Ahmad Nizam Hamid with a 2,441 majority in 2008.
Saifuddin joined PKR yesterday where he was presented by party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at the party headquarters.
The former Umno Supreme Council member defended his decision to switch sides as being more aligned with the multi-racial ideology that PKR practices. - Malay Mail
