IGP already immersed in politics up to his eyeballs

YOURSAY | ‘PDRM will have much respect if they do a professional job.’
Quigonbond: Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar is anything but apolitical, especially the way he described lodging reports with foreign enforcement agencies as an insult to his police force.
He should have welcomed it, and say Malaysia needs to work with those agencies because 1MDB scandal stretches across many jurisdictions. His myopic attitude says it all.
6th Generation Immigrant: Khalid, it is because of politics that you were preferred and promoted over many others - you cannot claim non-interference or naivety - when we see the ills of Malaysia brought about by years of unchecked political patronage.
You and many heads of agencies fall into this category.
Kawak: Double standards in investigating and detaining opposition leaders and activists and letting go of Umno leaders and their NGOs is not dragging yourself into politics?
Keturunan Malaysia: Khalid, give any fair-minded people-in-the-know enough time, space and freedom to comment on (quote), "Don't drag us into politics, IGP responds to Dr M", the best response you can get to that statement of yours is a sarcastic laugh.
Patriot1: IGP, you are already immersed in politics up to your eyeballs!
Kingfisher: Bravo Mr IGP for categorically stating your ‘neutrality’ and independence in policing. Malaysians who have increasingly taken a suspicious view of your position in this regard should be encouraged with your declaration.
The royal decree recently pronounced and calling for independent measures to probe the wrongdoings by the 1MDB and to take punitive action against those found guilty of crimes should be a strong encouragement to government enforcement officers such as you to demonstrate the strength of one's conviction through transparent action.
Legit: It is a great wonder how these men can spout all this nonsense without a twitch in their eyes.
The whole SOP (standard operating procedure) of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is political. Simply put, they are nothing but Umno's minions.
It is utter nonsense to say don't drag them into politics. PDRM will have much respect if they do a professional job instead of being PM Najib Razak's lackey.
Vent: Why would anyone drag you into politics when you are already at the beck and call of the master politician in Malaysia? And you are doing such a good job you put others to shame.
Ericlcc: Even Vilfredo Pareto (of the Pareto Principle) himself will be ashamed as his 20:80 theory does not apply to Malaysia.
In Malaysia, it could be worse - perhaps 5:95 meaning 5 percent of the population own 95 percent of the country's wealth and 95 percent of the population own a miserly 5 percent of the country's wealth.
I think PM Najib Abdul Razak is one of the culprits as his RM2.6 billion in his personal account probably skewed the income distribution.
Anonymous 2358311441466692: That's because for every RM100 that the government purportedly says that is going towards the poor, only RM10 actually reached them. RM90 allegedly end up in some politician’s pocket.
That is what corruption does, deprive help to those needing it and widening the gap between the haves and have-nots.
The RM2.6 billion is the classic example of passing debt to the common people and enriching the political elite.
Hplooi: These structural defects (income inequality being worse than other Asean countries), in my opinion cannot be addressed just by taxation policies. In fact increasing taxation may drive capital out or underground.
The key problems are mainly socio-political. The thinking from the inception of the New Economic Policy or NEP (back from the 80s but accelerated in the 90s) was the 'trickle-down effect'.
This idea posits that generously lavishing money on the bumiputera segment (perceived to be economically handicapped will somehow trickle down. And 'trickle down' is a major cause of this current growth in Gini coefficient disparity.
This is particularly accentuated in today's competitive conditions where affirmative action, especially its abuse, creates serious distortions in the economy. My last assertion is a major cause of disparity which affects the lower end of the population.
Pisasu 7: The rich billionaires and the powerful families rule. Ask also why states like Kedah, Kelantan or even Perak or Pahang still lag after all the infrastructure is in place.
It's equally important that the urban poor in developed states are looked after, too.
Pahatian: The biggest problem in Malaysia is corruption and followed by incompetent people running the country. Solve these two problems and Malaysia will be one of the richest countries in the world, and of course the income disparity will narrow down by itself.
Righteous: Sales of Porches and Mercs skyrocketing. So are thefts during a recent 999 expo on TV. That says a lot, doesn't it? --Mkini
