Commodity prices have been boosted, says Rompin MP
KUALA LUMPUR: Rural folk are benefiting from the depreciation of the ringgit, according to Rompin MP Hasan Arifin.
He said this was because the lower ringgit helped boost commodity prices.
“God be praised,” he said. “The depreciation of the ringgit against the US dollar has benefited rural people very much.
“The ringgit should be left alone, let it perform according to market and current economic conditions,” he said during the debate on Budget 2016 at the Dewan Rakyat today.
The commodities market experienced a rebound this month after a period of instability and depressed prices.
