Robbers board vessel in Singapore Straits

The MMEA director-general says six robbers boarded the ALMI SPIRIT in the Straits of Singapore at 7am today.

JOHOR BAHRU: At least six robbers boarded a vessel in the Straits of Singapore at 7am today, according to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).

MMEA director-general Admiral (Maritime) Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar said in a Twitter message that the robbers went on board the MT Almi Spirit at 7am and that MMEA boats had intercepted the vessel.

“ALMI SPIRIT was boarded by six robbers in the Straits of Singapore at 7am. It (the vessel) has been intercepted by KM Rawa and a speedboat in Tanjung Pelepas, Johor,” he said in the message.

The MMEA Southern Region said Johor Bahru District Maritime enforcement chief Capt (Maritime) Aminuddin Abd Rashid would hold a media conference at 1.30pm today about the incident.
