Kit Siang to tour states on twin mega scandals

The tour of the states would be a follow up of Pakatan MPs standing up in Parliament on October 23 with placards asking “Mana RM2.6 billion?”

KUALA LUMPUR: Suspended Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang has announced that he would be spending the next six months away from Parliament by visiting all the states in the country to explain to the people, including the three million Umno members, that everyone in Malaysia, regardless of gender, age, religion or political affiliation, are the real victims of the RM2.6 billion “donation” and 1MDB mega scandals.

Lim’s tour of the states would be a follow up of Pakatan MPs “sending a powerful message” when they stood up in Parliament, after the Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had presented his Budget 2016 on October 23, displaying placards asking “Mana RM2.6 billion?” “Undoubtedly, this should be the foremost concern of the country and the people. It had been conspicuously ignored by the Prime Minister in his budget presentation.”

It is only when the 30 million Malaysians including the three million Umno members realize that they themselves have become victims of the twin mega scandals that sufficient pressure could be brought to bear to compel a full accounting and satisfactory resolution and end to these scandals, added Lim who was DAP Parliamentary Leader. “We are suffering from the damaging consequences, like the fall in the value of the ringgit, the collapse of the stock market, the plunge in international reserves, the exit of foreign capital and our inability to sell Malaysia to foreign investors as a haven for foreign investment.”

The twin mega scandals have corrupted the Malaysian system of governance, warned Lim, resulting in the sacking of Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Federal Minister from Sabah Shafie Apdal, Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail, the dissolution of the multi-agency Special Task Force on 1MDB, the derailment of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearings on 1MDB and the unprecedented fracture and fragmentation of the government illustrated by the inter-departmental warfare with arrests or transfers of key government personnel.

Unfortunately, he lamented, the majority of the people and especially the three million Umno members have not realized that they have become victims of the RM2.6 billion “donation” and 1MDB twin mega scandals.
