Disciplinary action had been taken against 18 Selangor civil servants between January and September this year for violating rulings governing office hours.
Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said among the violations were shopping, dining out and playing snooker during the working hours.
“Disciplinary actions were taken against all of them based on the directive of the state secretary via a letter issued in June 2009, and a directive from from the Public Services Department in April 2008.”
He said this in reply to a question from Yakob Sapari (PKR-Kota Anggerik) at the state assembly sitting in Shah Alam today.
Mohamed Azmin, who is also Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyperson from PKR, said a monitoring squad had been set up at every department, agency, local authority and state government subsidiary company to look at the haunts of truant civil servants.
Meanwhile, state Investment, Industry (Small-Medium Enterprises), Commerce and Transportation Committee chairperson Teng Chang Khim said the water supply issue in the state had a negative impact on investment inflow to the state.
To a question from Dr Idris Ahmad (PKR-Ijok), he said the state government received a lot of calls from investors who were concerned about the clean water supply problem in the state.
Earlier, Teng told the assembly that for the January-June period this year, Selangor had approved 130 projects worth RM4.22 billion in investment.
“Although the number of projects approved was the highest in Malaysia, the total amount of investment was below that in Johor, Malacca and Penang,” he said.
