Morais, Shaharuddin receive 2015 Integrity Special Awards

The late former deputy prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais and late former Customs deputy deputy-general Shaharuddin Ibrahim have been named as the 2015 Integrity Special Award recipients.
Their selection was announced in the ‘Bicara Integriti Nasional 2015' programme that took place today, as they were described as having high integrity in conducting their duty and responsibility.
The special award was presented by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Paul Low Seng Kuan and received by their respective family members, namely Kevin’s youngest brother, Richard Morais and Shaharuddin’s widow, Rahimah Ibrahim.
Earlier a video on the two individuals were screened at the Integrity Auditorium, Integrity Institute of Malaysia to a full audience.
Integrity Institute of Malaysia also condemned the tragic murders of Kevin and Shaharuddin, who were described as individuals with integrity and trust in discharging their duties.
Speaking to reporters after attending the programme, Richard said his late brother was indeed a committed and firm person in performing his duties during his lifetime.
“I am proud to receive this award on his behalf and I hope he (Kevin) can become a role model to many,” he said.
The wife of Shaharuddin, Rahimah, said she was grateful for the recognition given to her late husband and hoped it could become a motivation for her and their children to go on with their lives.
“His loss is greatly felt and he (Shaharuddin) always reminded us to perform our duties with integrity and trust,” she said.
Kevin Morais was reported missing on Sept 4 after he was last seen leaving his apartment in Menara Duta, Kuala Lumpur for his office in Putrajaya in his Proton Perdana car bearing the registration number WA6264Q.
His body was found in a concrete-filled drum in Taman Perumahan USJ 1, Persiaran Subang Mewah near Kuala Lumpur last Sept 16.
In April 2013, Shaharuddin was shot at close range by one of two men on a motorcycle while his four-wheel drive vehicle driven by him stopped at a traffic light junction in Lebuh Sentosa, Putrajaya.
