He may well be one of those who will continue to haunt his own party from within

The disclosure by PAS former vice president Husam Musa of their current president Hadi Awang courting Umno to form a unity government in Selangor no longer fires one’s imagination as it did when the Selangor government was in some crisis following the infamous Kajang Move.
Husam Musa’s claim that Hadi Awang had approached some PKR assemblymen to cross over in order to secure a majority in the Selangor State Assembly is also stale news. (Husam exposes Hadi’s courting of Umno to form unity gov’t, FMT Nov 6).
Predictably, his colleagues in PAS had denied his claim. He has also been accused of harbouring pro-opposition sentiments, especially for Amanah. This is quite natural given his progressive label.
But what is startling is, to my mind, Husam Musa’s out of the blue forthrightness in the wake of his recent declaration that he sees himself a life member of PAS.
What does he hope to achieve by slinging mud at his president?
Here is a guy once touted as a protégé of the late Tok Guru Nik Aziz and well regarded by PAS non-Muslim supporters, who has chosen to remain with the party rather than join his like-minded progressives at Amanah.
In recent times we have seen in politics the pains in the neck, the Trojan horses, the unpatriotic ones to their own parties, etc.
It is my sneaking feeling that Husam Musa may well be one of those people who will continue to haunt his own party from within for some time.
Before the collapse of Pakatan Rakyat the DAP and PKR had been frustrated by frequent contrarian voices from their partner PAS. In the same way one may suggest that UMNO must have been equally frustrated by their most vociferous contrarian in Saifuddin Abdullah
Husam Musa’s actions may have incurred the ire of his party but they are surely being applauded by their enemies in Pakatan Harapan.
That outburst is not likely to be the last but rather the first of more to come.
I have no doubt that he has counted his cost and he knows full well the implications of his actions.
