The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and police raided Malaysiakini's office in Petaling Jaya this evening.
It is learnt that a team of 10 officers from both enforcement agencies entered the premises about 5.15pm.
The raid is said to be over a Malaysiakini's report that a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor (DPP) was transferred out of his division.
At the moment, the officers are still “talking” with Malaysiakini chief editor Steven Gan and the management.
On Wednesday, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said the transfer was internal and the DPP, Ahmad Shazalee Abdul Khairi, was still serving MACC, just that he was no longer in the special operations division.
He was part of the team that was investigating SRC International Sdn Bhd, a Finance Ministry subsidiary company.
Nancy said the transfer was due to Shazalee's promotion in the civil service rank, which was rated by grades.
