PKR MP slams 'irrational' Pandikar over bauxite project

PARLIAMENT A PKR lawmaker today slammed Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia for being irrational when he threw out the appeal by Kuantan residents who are against the bauxite project in Pahang.
"The excuse used by the speaker was trivial and unacceptable. The speaker has given an excuse, which does not make sense to me (tidak munasabah)," said Fuziah Salleh (PKR-Kuantan).
According to her, the speaker shot down the appeal on the ground that two lawmakers had brought up the petition when the Standing Order stipulated it should be done by one MP.
The speaker was also not satisfied that there was a lack of name and signature on each petition.
Fuziah was forced to retract the words "tidak munasabah" following the protest by Deputy Speaker Ismail Mohamed Said.
"I don't allow this, (I) want you to retract 'tidak munasabah'," he told her.
Fuziah replied: "'Tidak munasabah' is how I felt. I now use (the word) irrational."
She added that the House should not ignore the residents' voice on such technical grounds.
