A student says it was like a miracle when the superstar noticed how upset she was as he was being driven away and asked his driver to stop.
KUALA LUMPUR: Indian superstar Rajinikanth’s presence in Malaysia to shoot his latest movie “Kabali” has been the talk of the town for the past few days.
Large crowds of fans follow the film icon around and consider themselves lucky if they have a chance to snap a photograph with him.
The down-to-earth star, who turns 65 next month, appears to be accommodative and readily shakes hands and poses for selfies with fans.
A die-hard fan, Ekhnath Vivekanandar, 23, said he went to the hotel where Rajinikanth was staying in Kuala Lumpur, hoping to meet him in person.
“I’ve been his fan since I was a kid and when I came to know that my Thalaiva is here, I made a quiet vow not to miss the chance of meeting him in person,” he said.
He was nearly denied the chance of realising his dream due to the presence of a big crowd that had assembled at the hotel, but he persevered.
“So, I followed his car to the film location and waited for hours for a chance to see him,” he said.
As the crowd cleared, his patience was rewarded when Rajinikanth appeared before him and they began to talk and managed to take a photograph together.
Another fan, student Abiraami Menon, 23, shared a photograph she had taken with the superstar on social media, apparently awestruck by his humble nature and genuine affection for his fans.
Abiraami said she was among the crowd at another shooting location in Kuala Lumpur and was crying as she was not able to meet the star.
However, like a miracle, Rajinikanth noticed how upset she was as he was being driven away from the location and actually asked his driver to stop the car and called out to her.
“Rajinikanth held my hands and said don’t cry,” she said, adding that she was struck by his genuine love for his fans.
It was reported that Rajinikanth will be in Malaysia until November 21 for the film shoot which initially took place in Malacca before moving to Kuala Lumpur.
