Sudden transfer for MACC prosecutor

In what is seen as a possible ongoing disruption of investigations into the SRC International Sdn Bhd case, a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecutor who was involved with the remand of several key witnesses was suddenly transferred today, sources told Malaysiakini.
DPP Ahmad Shazalee Abdul Khairi, who was also picked up by the police in the wee hours of Aug 1, was held in a lock-up and had his home and office ransacked.
His documents and laptop were also seized from his MACC special operations division office on the same day before he was released.
What makes the transfer more perplexing is that his secondment to the MACC had just been extended in the middle of this year and was supposed to run until 2017.
But attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali had sent a letter on Oct 14 and had asked Ahmad Shazalee to report the next day.
However, it is understood that the MACC only received the letter on Friday (Oct 30).
A 'mad job'
Sources from the Attorney-General’s Chambers and MACC confirmed Ahmad Shazalee's sudden transfer.
It is not immediately known where Ahmad Shazalee reported for work today.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described this (AG Chambers’s decision) as ‘kerja gila’ (mad job) as there is no replacement.
"This is a bid to derail the on-going investigations on SRC International," added another source.
Previously, it was reported that the MACC special operations director, Bahri Mohd Zin, and its strategic communications director, Rohaizad Yaakob, were ordered to be transferred to the Prime Minister's Department (PMD).
Bahri was transferred to the PMD on Aug 10 after he spoke out against the harassment and obstruction that he and his officers faced, while Rohaizad was similarly transferred the same day because he received a memorandum from opposition politicians regarding 1MDB.
But the duo was reinstated in MACC after meeting with Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa and Public Service Department director-general Mohamad Zabidi Zainal.
MACC deputy chief commissioner Mohd Sukri Abdull had also pleaded that the two officers be returned and for the PMD to take him instead.
It was also previously reported that an officer in the AG’s Chambers, Jessica Gurmeet Kaur, who was part of the task force formed by then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail on the 1MDB, had her contract terminated.
Gurmeet, who is a permanent resident, was also threatened with deportation only for the authorities to rescind it. -Mkini
