Cops: DAP man not held because of 'Mana RM2.6b?' posters

Cops have released a DAP member after clearing up a miscommunication that occurred over a stack of 'Mana RM2.6 bil?' (Where is the RM2.6 bil?) posters found in the boot of his car.
Earlier this afternoon, Raub DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) chief Low Weng Chew was stopped by a police patrol of two officers for a random check while he was driving in Cheras.
When they asked him to open his boot, they found the stack of about 20 posters.
After some discussions, aided by DAP vice-chairperson Teresa Kok through his mobile phone, the police asked Low to follow them to the Cheras district police headquarters, supposedly to lodge a police report and to undergo a urine test.
Low thought this was due to the posters but when he arrived at the police station, he was promptly released without any further incident after his details were noted.
Cheras OCPD Chong Kok Sin said Low was stopped as part of a routine procedure.
"It was a misunderstanding. It was just a normal check," he told reporters outside the police station later.
He explained that during random checks, they would bring back the individuals to the police station to check their records in case they were wanted in relation to any other case.
"So it was not a matter of the 'RM2.6 billion' posters," he added.
When they found that Low was not involved in any other case, they released him, he added.
Urine test
DAP national vice-chairperson Teresa Kok accepted Chong's explanation, saying that when Low was brought to the station, they were told there was no case and no statement from him needed to be taken.
"We were initially angry because they said they wanted to do a urine test," she said.
"I'm glad the OCPD was here (to clear things up)," she added.
The 'Mana RM2.6 billion?' posters first made their appearance in Parliament in October.
Opposition MPs held up the posters in unison after Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak wrapped up his 2016 Budget presentation.
The posters are a reference to the RM2.6 billion found in Najib's personal accounts, which he has insisted is a 'political donation' from the Middle- East. -Mkini
