G25 should repent, says Hadi Awang

PAS president says the group has gone against the law with their khalwat remark.

KUALA LUMPUR: Moderation advocate group G25 continue to receive flak over its remark calling for Shariah laws on khalwat (close proximity) to be reviewed.
The latest to blast the group was PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who called for them to repent.
“It is shocking that in this country that has long embraced Islam, those who are calling for the abolishment of penalties against morality are allowed to associate freely (with others),” Malay daily Sinar Harian quoted him saying.
Hadi said the G25 had gone astray with their remarks, and had also gone against the law.
He cited the example of traffic laws and said anyone with a valid driving license could use it as long as it was within the confines of law.
“But when they run foul of the law and there is an accident, they cannot be let off.
“The injuries from a traffic accident can be treated but those who go off track by doing forbidden things, and refuse to repent, will suffer misfortune on earth and in hell.”
