Liow: Malaysians fortunate to celebrate multitude of festivals

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic) urged all Malaysians to set aside their differences and join hands as one united Malaysian family.
"We must resist elements in our society that do not champion our cultural diversity. Let us continue to work together in strengthening our nation’s fabric of unity," Liow said in a Christmas message.
"In a plural society like ours, it is imperative that we embrace the values of kindness and mutual respect.
"Acceptance and understanding of the different beliefs, traditions and cultures of our fellow countrymen is all the more needed during this age given the misunderstanding that lurks due to ignorance.

"My fellow Malaysians, as a country that celebrates a multitude of festivals, we must take this opportunity to appreciate the myriad of customs and backgrounds that Malaysia is blessed with.
"We are truly fortunate to be able to celebrate our nation’s diversity and enjoy the colourful melting pot of culture that Malaysia has to offer," he said.
Liow also wished Malaysian Christians a Merry Christmas.
"A Merry Christmas to my fellow Malaysians who celebrate this season of generosity and forgiveness," he said.
And for those travelling during the long weekend, Liow, who is Transport Minister, reminded all to drive safely for the sake of their loved ones and road users.
