The once upon a time supreme leader of Malaysia Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has witnessed first-hand how majority of Umno delegates support Prime Minister Najib Razak in the 2015 Umno General Assembly. When Mahathir embarked on an all-out attack against Najib, many thought that Najib's time is up. However, as we stand today, Mahathir is nothing more than an obsolete tape recorder that has become more of a nuisance.
How did the ever so powerful Mahathir become a joke? Why are Umno members abandoning his ship?
When one lies so much frequently, one often forgets the last lie, and he cooks up another lie to cover the previous lie. It is just a matter of time before people realise the liars intention. As they say, Sepandai-pandaitupaimelompat, akhirnyajatuhketanahjuga.
When questioned, Mahathir claims he is speaking against Najib due to the alleged billion ringgit fraud by 1MDB. He claims that is the only reason he speaks against Najib's administration.
When did the 1MDB scandal emerge? I cannot remember the exact date but if memory serves me right, it all blew open over the last couple of years. The can of worms definitely opened post-GE 13.
However, Mahathir's attacks on Najib started way before the 2013 general election. Speaking in a Malay Economic Congress in 2012, Mahathir launched offence on Najib by saying the later's administration is "weak" because Najib was giving too much concessions to non-Malays. Mahathir hinted that Najib was pandering to demands by non-Malays and was unhappy with Najib's plan to enhance non-Malay participation in the economic and civil sectors. Mahathir is a global ambassador for racial disunity and he used it as his biggest weapon to remain in power for more than two decades.
Mahathir's former comrade Abdul Hamid's allegation that the reason Mahathir is venting anger towards Najib is because Najib being the Finance Minister refused to permit the transfer of RM 1.194 trillion that allegedly belongs to Mahathir into the country. Following this allegation by Hamid, DAP Perak has lodged a report against Mahathir to MACC. It is also a well-known fact Mahathir's collapsed dream of the crooked bridge irked him like never before. If the trillion ringgit allegation against Mahathir is proven to be true, it would dwarf everything else in the country.
After all speculations and drama, Umno's general assembly has showed us all how irrelevant Mahathir is. Mahathir should start being a bit more religiously inclined as his days are numbered for the Al-Mighty to have some sympathy towards him. In the after-life Mahathir is going to only one place, which is definitely not heaven. - MAILBAG
