Najib's team shoots after Dr M's football tackle

As expected, MyKMU.net has responded to Dr Mahathir Mohamad following his claim that even football fans want Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to resign.
The counter attack comes in the form of one Amin Yatim, who often pens letters to the portal in defence of Najib.
In his latest letter, Amin also pointed out that Mahathir is not a football fan and found the former premier’s argument to be comical.
“Why is it that Tun (Mahathir) who proclaimed he is willing to be investigated, and have his statement recorded (in the past), is now searching for ways to avoid an investigation?
“Tun, you are not being investigated for asking Najib to step down. You are being investigated over suspicion of being involved in a plot to topple the prime minister using stolen and falsified documents about 1MDB.
“It is unfair that Tun misled the people (by claiming) he is being investigated for asking Najib to quit. What is more unfair is using football fans as a wall of defence when Tun once considered the game where 22 people chasing after a ball to be a waste of time.”
Furthermore, Amin argued that the purported banner calling on Najib to resign meant nothing as it did not represent the 80,000 fans who were at Stadium Shah Alam last weekend for the Malaysia Cup final.
“It is rib-tickling how Tun can interpret a few people holding the banner to be thousands.
“The banner is a manifestation of Najib’s openness unlike Tun who arrested hundreds before the 1998 Commonwealth Games (during protests held following the sacking of Anwar Ibrahim as deputy prime minister),” he said.
In a blog post this afternoon, Mahathir rued that thousands, including football fans, want Najib to resign but he is the only one being targeted by the authorities.
Images of the banner have been circulating on social media but it cannot be determined if the photograph is genuine.
Meanwhile, Amin, who described himself as a “realist”, said he agreed with Mahathir that Najib failed to provide detailed explanations on 1MDB, the RM2.6 billion donation and other issues during the recent Umno general assembly.
“I am of the opinion that the Umno president’s winding-up speech was not how it should have been.
“Many were hoping Najib would use the Umno assembly to ‘kill off’ Tun and his supporters like how Mahathir did to Anwar and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in 1998 and 1999,” he said.
However, Amin said Najib could not deliver a “no-holds-barred” speech because these issues are still under investigation and to speak about them would invite the perception that the prime minister is jumping the gun even before the probe is completed.
As for not touching on issues like education and economy effectively, Amin claimed the party president wanted to focus on uniting Umno, hence the olive branch extended to Muhyiddin Yassin and Mohd Shafie Apdal. -Mkini
