Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said Umno must be dynamic to remain relevant at all times.
“Umno must serve the people to remain relevant and cannot solely rely on political ideology,” he told reporters after attending the ‘Back To School’ programme organised by his ministry in Kota Belud today.
Salleh, who is also Sabah Umno deputy chief, said serving at all times will convince the people that they can rely on Umno to champion their cause.
About 700 primary school pupils from Kota Belud district received school bags through the joint programme with Kota Belud Umno division.
The organisers also provided free haircuts for the students and free sewing of school shoes.
Meanwhile, Sameyah Junki, 32, from Kampung Kuala Abai, thanked the government for organising the programme which eased the burden of parents like herself.
“The needs of my two children in Year 2 and Year 4 have been provided for. Now, I only need to provide for my two other children in Year 6 and Form 1.”
Her son, Mohd Ikram Renong, 10, who aspires to become a doctor, said he was really happy to get a new school bag for the 2016 school session.
