Defence Minister Mohamad Hasan has denied claims on social media that he will soon be fired from his position for allegedly no longer supporting Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“It was viral that I would be fired from my ministerial position because it is said I am no longer siding with the prime minister.
“These fools do not know, out of all the ministries, the Defence Ministry gets the most special allocation from the prime minister.
“Yet they want to complain that Mat Hasan will be fired because I am not together in the campaign,” he said at the Paroi state seat Unity Night ceramah in Senawang, Negeri Semblan, last night.
His remarks comes after a few videos went viral on social media claiming that Mohamad - who is also known as Mat Hasan - would be fired as the defence minister.
The Umno deputy president was also alleged to no longer support Anwar as the prime minister because he did not join the election campaign.
However, the minister said he was unable to join the campaign because he was sick with fever.
“I had a fever for four days, 40 degrees. So don’t make up all sorts of things about me,” he said in front of a crowd of about 200.
It was previously reported that Mohamad, who is BN’s Rantau candidate was infected with the influenza virus and was instructed by his doctor to rest for two to three days.
When asked, Mohamad did not comment on whether he intends to take legal action against those who spread the claims online. - Mkini
