KOTA BHARU: The drainage and irrigation department (DID) has issued flood warnings for two districts in Kelantan – Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas – starting early tomorrow if significant rainfall continues today.
The department said this is based on the “severe and continuous” heavy rain forecast by the Malaysian meteorological department (MetMalaysia) at 5.40am today and the results of the flood prediction model.
In a statement, it said Kampung Kajang in Tanah Merah is expected to be hit by floodwaters at 1am tomorrow, and areas around Kampung Nibong and Kampung Air Bujing will be affected at 3am.
In the Pasir Mas district, floods are expected at 3am at Kampung Kubang Rambutan, Kampung Bagus, Kampung Degung and Kampung Limau Purut.
More flooding is expected in Pasir Mas at 9am in the vicinity of Jeti Danau Tok Uban, Kampung Chasi, Tok Uban, Kampung Rasal, Kampung Kuala Itik, Kampung Kok Pauh, Kampung Rahmat, Kampung Pengkalan Telok and Kampung Tersang.
Flooding is expected at Kampung Lubok Gong at 5pm, followed by areas around Rantau Panjang, Kampung Gelang Mas and Kampung Kalor at 11pm.
The DID stressed that these were not exact times, and residents should be vigilant and comply with the directives of the authorities or flood management agencies. - FMT
