Gombak Setia assemblyperson Muhammad Hilman Idham has claimed that he was being continuously subjected to state harassment to vacate his service centre.
In a statement, Hilman said he had recently received another eviction notice from the Gombak Land and District Office, despite having secured an injunction against a previous eviction order.
“I understand that another police report was made by the state government accusing me of encroaching state land.
“I reiterate that I am not a trespasser. I merely inherited the Gombak Setia service centre which has been in operation since 2008,” he said.
Hilman said the state government’s latest notice was an insult to the courts and urged the state government to stop harassing him.
“The encroachment of state land is very serious in Selangor. Why is a service centre used to help the public being targeted? What about other areas?” he asked.
On June 27 - three days after the dissolution of the Selangor legislative assembly - several land authorities issued eviction notices for service centres used by assemblypersons in the Gombak Setia, Sungai Tua and Hulu Kelang constituencies.
The notices claimed that the land occupation was an offence under Section 435 of the National Land Code, and the buildings had to be evacuated.
Hilman claimed that the notices were politically motivated. He defected from PKR and Pakatan Harapan to Bersatu in 2020. - Mkini
