Ngeh tells PAS MP to step down over 'DAP family conspiracy' claim

DAP’s Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham has urged PAS parliamentarian Siti Mastura Muhammad to step down as an elected representative after the latter’s “DAP family conspiracy” allegations.

Siti Mastura claimed that Ngeh is related to Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng - whom she alleged was related to former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Ong Boon Hua, better known as Chin Peng, and Singapore’s first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.

The Kepala Batas MP also alleged that Lim has family relations with other DAP leaders such as secretary-general Anthony Loke, Nga Kor Ming, and Teresa Kok.

In response, Ngeh (above, centre) expressed shock over Siti Mastura’s claims, calling it a lie and slander, and said that the latter was unfit to serve the people as an MP.

“She should know what to do. As an MP, we are chosen by the people.

“I can’t make a decision (whether she should step down or not). I respect the people.

“If the people think that she is not suitable (to be an MP), maybe their voice would reach her. She has embarrassed the voters in her constituency,” he said in a press conference at Parliament today.

Despite being given the time to respond to Lim’s demand for evidence of her claims, Ngeh pointed out that Siti Mastura had remained silent and no proof has been presented so far.

“The people must know that she had lied and made false accusations, making her untrustworthy.

“It’s a huge mistake. She should at least issue an apology,” he asserted.

Although the deadline looms for Siti Mastura to respond to Lim’s demand, the junior PAS MP has continued to keep mum.

MP or cybertrooper?

Meanwhile, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok said Siti Mastura should be held responsible as her words as a parliamentarian carry weight and can influence or mislead the people.

“People tend to believe what is being said (by an MP) as true.

“She is an Islamic educator and an ustazah as well, so people are even more inclined to believe what she says is true. But it’s not,” Kok said at the press conference.

Siti Mastura made the claim in her 46-minute speech to PAS’ women and young women wings members from Kemaman PAS, ahead of the upcoming Kemaman parliamentary by-election.

Kok also did not mince her words when she slammed Siti Mastura, likening her allegations to the behaviour of cybertroopers.

“When the accusations that Chin Peng and DAP were related, we initially thought that it was the work of cyber troopers.

“We did not expect a leader, an MP, and someone who has the title of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) to believe all the lies on the internet and spread it in a ceramah session.”

Speaking briefly at the press conference, Jelutong MP RSN Rayer said Siti Mastura will potentially face legal consequences, be it civil or criminal, if she doesn’t respond to Lim's demand for evidence of her claims by tomorrow. - Mkini
