Labuan MP given access to federal funds, thanks PM

Labuan MP Suhaili Abdul Rahman has been given access to Putrajaya’s allocation to government MPs.

Suhaili (above, rightwrote on Facebook yesterday that he was at the Federal Territories implementation coordination unit (ICU) office to make arrangements.

He said the funds would be channelled to his service centre soon.

“Thank you Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for keeping your promise,” he said.

Government MPs have access to RM3 million per annum in government funding, which is managed by the ICU - an agency under the Prime Minister’s Department.

On Oct 30, Suhaili declared his support for Anwar despite his party Bersatu firmly choosing to be part of the opposition.

Three other Bersatu MPs - Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Zahari Kechik (Jeli) - have declared support for Anwar since last month.

Although the Dewan Rakyat sitting has been ongoing since Oct 14, the quartet’s loyalty has not been tested because no bloc votes have been called.

Meanwhile, Suhaili said he has informed the ICU that he will be using federal funds to increase the number of Gerai Peramba in the Patau-patau area and improving road access.

“When I was the Labuan MP between 1999 and 2008, I conducted a similar project at Kampung Tanjung Aru to eradicate poverty.

“Alhamdulillah, the project was a success. Many who were once in poverty were now successful entrepreneurs,” he said. - Mkini
