Lokman lodges police report against Khairy over GEG comments

PETALING JAYA: Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam has lodged a police report against Khairy Jamaluddin over the generational end-game (GEG) issue.

In his report filed at the Sentul police station in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (Nov 19), Lokman said Khairy's statement on a portal was defamatory against the Prime Minister, Cabinet ministers and the Attorney General (AG).

He further alleged that Khairy's statement concerning the de facto Law Minister and the AG had defamatory elements.

This, he said, was despite the AG's Chambers maintaining it had been consistent in its legal opinion that certain provisions in the proposed GEG Bill could be challenged in court.

"Khairy should not reveal what was discussed when he was in the Cabinet or (release) excerpts of the discussion as it contravenes the oath of secrecy," Lokman further stated in his report.

"It also sullies the Prime Minister's image and creates a state of confusion and uneasiness among the people when Khairy reveals discussions which could affect the country's harmony.

"As such, he should be investigated for tarnishing the reputation of the Prime Minister, Cabinet ministers and AG," added Lokman.

Khairy has been embroiled in a war of words with Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and former AG Tan Sri Idrus Harun.
