PETALING JAYA: Gerik MP Fathul Huzir Ayob is disappointed with several of his Perikatan Nasional (PN) comrades who have pledged support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s government.

In a Facebook post, Fathul labelled the Bersatu MPs who have backed Anwar as “selfish” and “chicken-hearted”.

Fathul reminded them that struggles were part and parcel of being in the opposition, adding that obtaining constituency development allocations in return for supporting Anwar did not mean they had “saved the people”.

“We entered the general election (GE15) and campaigned against Madanon (Anwar). We were assisted by a machinery that was sincerely dedicated to PN’s struggle to win. (So) why betray the people’s mandate?” asked Fathul.

“I am saddened by my weak friends, the chicken-hearted group.”

Earlier today, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik pledged his support for the current government, making him the fourth parliamentarian from Bersatu to do so.

Yesterday, Gua Musang MP Azizi Abu Naim said he decided to back the current administration for the sake of his constituents and to ensure continued development in the area.

Two other Bersatu MPs, Labuan MP Suhaili Abdul Rahman and Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, had earlier backed Anwar’s administration, citing similar reasons.

Bersatu has suspended Suhaili for six years and Iskandar Dzulkarnain for four years.

Earlier today, Suhaili confirmed receiving allocations for his constituency after declaring support for Anwar on Oct 30. He told FMT the allocation was received on a pro rata basis, but declined to reveal the amount. - FMT
