PARLIAMENT | Shahidan Kassim (Perikatan Nasional-Arau) has filed a motion calling for Jimmy Puah (Pakatan Harapan-Tebrau) to be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee for allegedly liking a post by Israeli actress Gal Gadot on social media.
“I have referred him to the Rights and Privileges Committee. How long do I have to wait?” he asked in the Dewan Rakyat today.
After demanding a decision on his motion, Shahidan was told by speaker Johari Abdul that one would be forthcoming in two or three days.
On Oct 30, Shahidan accused PKR’s Puah of being a supporter of Israel.
Gadot (above), a former beauty queen turned actress, was crowned Miss Israel in 2004 and attained worldwide fame for playing Wonder Woman in the DC movie franchise.
Responding to Shahidan’s motion, Khoo Poay Tiong (Harapan-Kota Melaka) also brought up his request to refer Shahidan and Pendang MP Awang Hashim to the same committee for linking him to Israel.
“On Oct 18, he (Awang) accused me of being a Zionist, where he said, ‘Not holistically, but there are elements that he is a Zionist’.
“Meanwhile, Arau accused me of being a Jew and he did not retract. Hence, I have referred him to the committee and I want to know the decision,” Khoo said.
Johari then said he would make a decision on both motions in two to three days.
